Rainy season self-adhesive use precautions

Pubdate:2019-11-22

  ● Storage of labels:

Self-adhesive labels need to be stored in a dry environment to avoid the adverse effects of moisture, curl and other high humidity. It is recommended that the storage environment of the self-adhesive label is: 22 ° C ± 2 ° C, 50% ± 5% relative humidity. The label of the complete package provided by the supplier is recommended to follow the principle of first-in-first-out in the labeling, and the label that is not used temporarily needs to be kept intact. At the same time, if the object to be attached is also a material that is susceptible to environmental temperature and humidity, such as corrugated boxes, it is also necessary to pay attention to packaging and storage.

  ● Ensure that the surface of the object is dry and clean:

In a high-humidity environment, the surface of the object is prone to condensation and forms a water film, which causes great difficulty in labeling. Labeling up or poor labeling during the rainy season is often associated with this cause. In the high-humidity environment where condensation is easy, it is necessary to take certain measures of heating or air drying to ensure that the labeling surface is dry and clean.

  ● The moisture content of the label and the object to be attached should be balanced when labeling:

The labeling action results in a flat combination of the label and the sticker in the labeling environment. After the labeling is completed, if the ambient temperature and humidity change more severely (such as the rainy season), the label and the attached object are affected by different degrees, which may cause changes in the labeling state of the label, causing problems such as wrinkling of the label. In order to avoid the above problems, it is first required that the labeling and storage environment needs proper control to avoid large changes in temperature and humidity. At the same time, the moisture content of the label and the sticker to be labeled needs to be as balanced as possible, so that when the label is subjected to different environments after the completion of the labeling, the changes of the two are relatively synchronized, and the occurrence of wrinkles and the like can be reduced.

Several practical methods for using self-adhesive in the rainy season

When the processing and use conditions are special or limited, and the problem cannot be fully satisfied, the following emergency measures can alleviate or solve the problem to varying degrees. These methods have been accumulated in many years of practical applications, and users are advised to try the options according to their actual application:

  ● The following methods can alleviate or solve problems such as ruffle, curl, and deformation of materials:

  Control ambient temperature

Labels that have not been opened for packaging for a period of time in the use environment, so that the temperature inside and outside the package is balanced before packaging; after opening the package, it needs to be used as soon as possible, how much to use, to avoid long-term exposure of materials to high humidity environment; The sheet of paper material, after fully air-dried, is recommended to be 24-48 hours, which can help the material to reach a stable state through water absorption or water release, and enhance the material's resistance to the environment.

  ● When labeling, the following methods can alleviate problems such as labeling wrinkles:

  Use a film-based label or glaze or laminate the paper label to reduce the impact of the label on the environment in use;

Labeling on non-absorbent surfaces (eg plastic, glass, metal, etc.), after labeling is completed, the label should not be allowed to absorb a large amount of moisture, such as direct exposure to moisture, otherwise it will cause the label to wrinkle. If the environment is really damp, it is recommended to open the label packaging and dry the label before labeling, so that the moisture absorption deformation of the material is stable before labeling.

Labeling on absorbent surfaces (eg, paper products, etc.) requires attention to the balance of the contents of the stickers and labels. Otherwise, when the environment changes, the dimensional changes caused by the loss or loss of moisture between the two may be out of synchronization, resulting in poor labeling such as label wrinkles. After many tests, the label is directly attached to the surface of the wet carton, and the probability of label wrinkling is very high.

  Instance

Here are some typical problems encountered by customers and how to solve them for your reference.

Example 1: During the rainy season, corrugated cardboard boxes are wrinkled.

Problem: After normal labeling on the carton, it is placed in the finished product warehouse, and the label wrinkles after 24 hours.

Analysis: Labels are printed by professional self-adhesive printing companies, packed in plastic bags, and placed in warehouses after the factory. Corrugated boxes are provided by the printing house, without outer packaging, and are stored in the same warehouse after entering the factory. There is no constant temperature and humidity control in the warehouse. The key to this problem is that the carton is more susceptible to moisture in the customer's warehouse than the label (or the carton itself has a higher moisture content) due to the different packaging, resulting in a “dry” label stuck to the “wet” corrugated paper during labeling. On the box. After the labeling, it is placed in the new environment for a while, and the wet cardboard box loses moisture and becomes smaller in size, causing wrinkles on the label attached to the box.

Solution: Pay attention to controlling the moisture content of corrugated boxes, not too high. The carton can be air-dried by reinforcing the carton packaging or labeling before the labeling, so that the moisture content of the carton and the label is basically balanced, which can reduce or solve the wrinkles caused by external humidity changes.

Example 2: A brand of liquor producers, the labeling of the labelling during the rainy season and the wrinkling after packing.

Question: The specific production situation is as follows: labeling on the glass bottle, the label is not firmly attached, and the label is lifted. After some of the bottle labels are attached, they are placed in a carton and wrinkled after 24 hours.

Analysis: The key to the problem of label sticking is that in the high-humidity environment of the rainy season, the glass is dew on the surface. When the label is attached, there is a water-loaded glue between the bottle and the bottle body, which causes the glue to not properly perform the bonding performance. The problem of wrinkling is caused by a wet carton. The labeled bottle is placed in a carton, which is heavily humid, causing the label attached to the bottle to swell and wrinkle.

Solution: 1. Add drying channel on the assembly line before labeling, so that the surface of the bottle is dry and clean when labeling, completely solving the problem of lifting.

2, by drying the air can reduce the moisture content of the carton, to a large extent control the wrinkle problem.
